Care and Cleaning Guide
Silver is one of the most popular precious metals. Pure silver is very soft; sterling silver consists of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other alloys, such as copper, to make it more durable. These other metals can react with air to create tarnish. Tarnish is easy to prevent or clean. Wearing your jewelry is the best way to prevent tarnish, as the natural oils in your skin can help to keep it clean. It is also helpful to avoid direct contact with chemicals such as perfume, chlorine, sunscreen, hairspray, etc., as this can increase tarnish. When not worn, keep your jewelry in an airtight bag.
If your jewelry starts to become dull or even black, the easiest way to bring back the shine is with a silver polishing cloth.
